The Lakes Region Sled Dog Club began designing buttons for each year's race since the 1930's.  Originally they were part of a contest called "The Musher Queen Contest" where women from all different ages and backgrounds were competing for the title of Musher Queen, and to win they needed to sell the most buttons and raffle tickets up to the race.  The contest has developed over the years from representing famous mushers in our race's history to showcasing local young artist works.  Many avid collectors in the Lakes Region have every button ever made.  Purchasing a button directly benefits the club and its efforts to keep the World Championship Sled Dog Derby alive.
